What is Macular Degeneration?

Macular Degeneration, also referred to as age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD), is a medical condition resulting in blurred or no vision in the centre of the visual field. It occurs when the macula, a part of the retina, is affected. Initially, there are typically no signs or symptoms. Some people, however, suffer a gradual decrease in vision with time, damaging one or both eyes.
